In case you haven’t noticed, the last few days (read “since Tuesday”) have seen a slight change in Google’s interface. The “Classic Home” has the same look and feel because it’s doing what it was designed to do–be simple. But the “Personalized Home Page” has been replaced with iGoogle! You still have the same personalization and customization you’ve set up, but they have some themes you can apply to your page (which change based on your time of day, season, or weather conditions–VERY COOL!!) and they’ve gotten rid of that long and bulky name: Personalized Home Page. iGoogle is MUCH more catchy. And shorter, easier to say, more trendy, whatever else.
BetaNews posted a good article about the new branding. Some of the main features that they describe include location-based search results, more “gadgets” and a “gadget maker,” which lets you make gadgets without any knowledge of HTML or JavaScript. There are currently over 25,000 gadgets already available.
