There are some songs that always make me think of a movie I saw them in. The other morning I woke up to the clock radio playing “Then He Kissed Me” by The Crystals and I immediately thought of Adventures in Babysitting. That was the opening song of the movie.

Another song that makes me think of a movie is the Beatles version of “Twist and Shout” that Matthew Broderick lip-synced in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Whenever I hear that song I can see him on the parade float singing it.

Then there was the song in Groundhog Day that started every day off: “I Got You Babe,” by Sonny and Cher.

And of course there’s Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” which has become SO associated with the movie that many people refer to that piece of music as 2001: A Space Odyssey.

And I have to admit that now when I hear ZZ Top’s “La Grange,” I do sometimes think of Shanghai Noon, where the song was used during a barfight. :-)

Anybody got any favorites? Any songs that immediately make them think of a movie? Songs with the same title as the movie don’t count.

UPDATE: I forgot The 10th Kingdom. Every time I hear “Night Fever” or a couple other songs by the BeeGees, I immediately think of the trolls who really got into it and thought the boom box was a Magic Box. :-D
