Last night my handbell group, the Circle City Ringers, got to play for the Yuletide Celebration that the Indianapolis Symphony puts on. For the hour before their concert, we were in the lobby–on the second floor overlooking the main lobby area–playing Christmas music. It was kinda fun and a different kind of venue. People walked right behind us or even stood there to watch and listen. Lots of kids, too.

It was nice to be in such an engaging environment and to be a part of creating a Christmas atmosphere for everyone. The symphony director who coordinates the whole event actually came up to our floor and thanked us for being a part of it all, telling us how much he appreciated having the bells there and all that. Pretty nice, ’cause he certainly didn’t have to do that. It was totally out of his way.

We get to do it all again on Sunday. Twice. For the hour before their 1:00 and 6:00 shows. Since we have the time to kill and don’t want leave downtown Indy and come back, we’re having a White Elephant gift exchange to pass the time. What fun!
