Yesterday was the day we had scheduled for Comcast to come and install cable, broadband, and digital voice (phone) service. The scheduled time was between 1pm and 5pm, with a phone call 1/2 hour before arriving.

Yesterday also ended up being the day that our living room carpeting was finally going to get installed. The guy that called on Wednesday said that it would be early afternoon, right after their morning jobs and lunch.

So about 1:20 yesterday afternoon, we get a call from Comcast: “We’ll be there in 20 minutes.” Five minutes later we get a call from the carpet people: “We’ll be there in 20 minutes.” Turns out they both were right. The cable guys (two guys in two vans) had just started checking the place out, looking where we had cable running to the house, etc., when the carpeting guys showed up (three guys in one van). Then another cable guy showed up, parking his van out on the street. It was like a circus.

The cable guys had to run a new line from the street (I had no idea they could hang their ladders on the telephone lines) to the house and all told they were there for well over an hour. The carpeting guys were over an hour and a half, but they did a great job and even put our floor vents in and everything.

So after yesterday’s circus (I just sat on the porch in a recliner, watching the whole thing, since the furniture had to be out of the living room, of course), we’ve got everything installed and have a living room again! Now to get all the rest of the stuff from our apartment moved in. After tomorrow, we’ll actually have everything we own at one location instead of three! Gotta like that!
