Talk about a busy weekend! We took most of the weekend to move into a new house (new to us). We still have a bunch of stuff at our old townhouse, but we’ve got a couple more weeks to get it all out. In the meantime, the construction people spent 12 hours at the house on Saturday and the got the roof completed and the garage completely re-roofed. They also got the inside repairs done in our hallway (roof leaks, inside gets damaged, roof gets fixed, inside gets fixed
), leaving just a bit of ceiling to replace in the living room and in the bedroom that Blaise and Camber will share. Carpeting also has to be replaced in those rooms, but not until the ceiling’s done. “Domino effect” and all. With work to be done in those two rooms, we’ve refrained from moving anything in there.
So basically we’re living out of two small bedrooms and a kitchen. Oh, and two full bathrooms. (Yay!) It’s like having a family of five in a hotel. While we’ve been concerned about the house not being big enough, and are planning to add on after we officially purchase it (we’re leasing right now), it will seem HUGE once we’ve got three bedrooms and a living room. ![]()
Even so, we’re officially in the new house and have slept there since Saturday. What a contrast. Instead of falling asleep (or trying to) to loud people in the neighborhood, dogs barking, cranked-up bass from car stereos, and occasional police sirens, we fell asleep to crickets and cicadas. How wonderful! I can’t wait for us to get our living room moved over. Besides that, it’s just a bunch of loose stuff and couple pieces of furniture. Then we’ll be out of the old place completely. With much rejoicing (a la Monty Python).
