This particular quiz is interesting because it breaks the overall picture down into different categories, like Social Issues, Ethics, etc., and gives you a different kind of glimpse into your own self and just how liberal or conservative you are in particular ways.

Your Political Profile:

Overall: 80% Conservative, 20% Liberal
Social Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
Ethics: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
How Liberal Or Conservative Are You?

The Department of Homeland Security has a database of “vulnerable critical infrastructure and key resources” that lists the sites supposedly most in need of security–the most vulnerable (and theoretically most logical) potential targets for terrorists, CNN reported a story released just this morning.

The problem? It is grossly flawed. Thus CNN’s headline: ” Security funding list: Bean fest, but not Times Square?”

Included in the database:

  • an insect zoo
  • a bean fest
  • a kangaroo conservation center
  • a bourbon festival

Not included in the database:

  • The Statue of Liberty
  • The Empire State Building
  • Times Square
  • The Brooklyn Bridge

They don’t rank the sites, they just list them. But you’d think that there’ probably a problem if Indiana has 8,591 critical assets listed, while New York only has 5,687. Especially when such prominent sites as the Statue of Liberty are not even included.

It sounds like this list is a basis for funding decisions. Might that be why they announced they were cutting the security funding for Washington, D.C., and New York by 40%?
