On the way to work today, I heard Chicago’s song “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is.” You know how it has that different introduction that lasts about 20-30 seconds before the “real” song kicks in? Ever notice that the radio DJs tend to talk during it? I hadn’t until today when the guy said that FCC regulations require that they talk through that part of the song. He then proceeded to slowly say what time it WAS, taking up the rest of the musical space until the “real” intro started.

Is that first bit part of another song, so the FCC requires that it not be considered part of the real song? Any ideas anyone? I poked around on the Internet for a while but couldn’t find any answers.
