Last night I found a blog hosting place that has free software, free hosting, and the best features of any similar program I’ve seen.
It’s called MyBlogSite.

As a means of comparison, here’s a chart that lists some of the features that they and other programs offer (or don’t):

  MyBlogSite Blogger LiveJournal MoveableType TypePad
Post An Article Easy to Use WYSIWYG editor WYSIWYG editor No WYSIWYG No WYSIWYG WYSIWYG editor
Categories Categories & Sub-Categories No No WYSIWYG No WYSIWYG WYSIWYG editor
Photo Posting Unlimited Photos Limited photos Limited photos Limited photos Unlimited Photos
Photo Albums Unlimited Photo Albums No photo album No photo album No photo album Photo album present
Predesigned Layouts Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
Ablity to create Custom Layouts Yes No Limited Yes No

If were still using Blogger (which I’m not because I moved my blog to my own website and now use WordPress), I’d switch to MyBlogSite in a heartbeat. The categories and extra features and custom layouts make it worthwhile right there. Plus there’s a good sense of community within users of the program, which helps it compare to Xanga, LiveJournal, and those kind of programs.
