I’m sick of hearing about all the crap our troops get overseas!

I’m tired of hearing about how so many NATIVES (call them liberated, occupied, UNGRATEFUL, or whatever) are bent on killing our people who are over there to help them.

I say: Pull ALL of our troops out of ALL other countries! Let them handle their own internal problems and do whatever the heck they want to their own countrymen. It’s none of our business unless and until they physically threaten the United States. Pre-emptive action is unnecessary and unwise, and only risks the lives of our troops, and that unnecessarily.

The role of our country does not include enforcing “our will” (or at least the will of the loudest voices of those currently in power) on everyone else in the world. Raise the walls at the borders and secure our airports and seaports and other border crossings. Let the rest of the world do whatever it wants, but keep our people home and safe and our noses out of other people’s business. It’s not our job to make the entire world a safe and pleasant place to live, nor is it our job to force “democracy” on everyone else. That’s hardly reflecting the democratic principles, is it?

The rest of the world has hardly ever shown gratitude for the efforts of the U.S. in their neighborhoods. In fact, reactions have typically been just the opposite: resentfulness, anger, and accusations of elitism and hubris. The U.S. needs to keep its nose out of the business of the rest of the world, and its troops at home.

As usual, today’s Controversial Topic posting does not necessarily represent the views of The Pfitz Pfactor or its author. The purpose is promoting discussion.

ACHIEVEMENT

You can do anything you set your mind to when you have vision, determination, and an endless supply of expendable labor.

AMBITION

The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly.

CLUELESSNESS

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

DESPAIR

It’s always darkest just before it goes pitch black.

ELITISM

It’s lonely at the top, but it’s comforting to look down upon everyone at the bottom.

IDIOCY

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

MEDIOCRITY

It takes a lot less time and most people won’t notice the difference until it’s too late.

PRETENSION

The downside of being better than everyone else is that people tend to assume you’re pretentious.

STUPIDITY

Quitters never win, winners never quit, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

And thus it begins: with two concerts this last weekend.

December has got to be the busiest month of the year for a musician. Probably for many non-musicians, too, but the more musical groups you’re in, the more Christmas concerts you will have. And once you get out of college it only gets worse. Church groups, community groups, work groups… performances and parties. They can be fun (and if you’re a musician, you probably became one because of the joy of performing), but they sure do keep your schedule hopping in December.

This last week I had three rehearsals, two concerts, and a banquet (and a partridge in a pear tree). Between now and Christmas (less than three weeks) I have 3 or 4 more rehearsals, 8 (EIGHT!) concerts, three parties and a dinner. That’s light, compared with previous years. I can look at my calendar and still see a few free evenings between now and Christmas.

The biggest concert is on December 14 at 7:30pm, with Embellish at Mayflower Congregational Church here in Grand Rapids. I have tickets for sale if you like, or you can get them at the door. It’s always a highlight of our year, with beautiful music in a gorgeous setting. Hope to see you there!
